pea in the pod

Well, we finally made it! We’re pregnant!
I found out the morning before flying to visit David for the Easter weekend. It was pretty unromantic actually. In fact, after stopping at the pharmacy, I turned the console of the car into my personal laboratory with a saved sample of urine and a digital pregnancy test. When that plastic indicator stick read, “Positive,” I giggled and cried through the disbelief and joy. David is in Salt Lake City, so I decided I would try to call him and if he picked up, share the news. Since he didn’t, the poor guy had to wait until I arrived. We shared the Easter weekend together, celebrating the season of New Life for more than one reason!
As of now, we are firmly in week 6. We’re still careful to balance our joy with a teensy bit of guard, but this time feels different to me. Praying every day that I'm right...
Baby Behr is about the size of a lentil bean right now. Baby’s eyes, nose and mouth are beginning to form and his or her heart is beating 100-160 times per minute. This week, I have my second 1st OB visit (yes, you read that right!) and we’re planning a trip home for David so he can be here for our first ultrasound in a few weeks.
Let me tell you, God has a plan. It really doesn’t make sense to me that we would be pregnant now, but I am extremely grateful. Up to this point, I have been planning to leave my job and our insurance. I’d be bluffing if I said I wasn’t wondering if I should keep going with the move to Minneapolis or turn around and stay put here in Denver. However, if God has put us on this path, I have to trust Him and continue to put one foot in front of the other. This is an opportunity that will allow us to spend more time together as a family. And that has to be right!
